I'm Jessica,
nice to meet you.

I'm a UX Designer based in Raleigh, NC and have been working professionally for about 6 years.

Some of my favorite things are coffee, board games, and books. In my free time, I enjoy playing video games with friends, playing with my three cats, and exploring my city.

How I got started in user research
& design

During my time at Abilene Christian University, I took a class called Human-Computer Interaction with Dr. James Prather.

I completely fell in love with this thoughtful intersection of art, psychology, and web design. I took every HCI class available to me and began doing my own personal research on the side. My passion project turned into a successful student research group, then internships, and finally a career in UX.

What I've been working on

My current industry is the world of tax, audit, and accounting software through my job at Wolters Kluwer. My favorite recent project is a contextual design study we conducted through the latter half of 2022. Our goal was to design a better experience for small firm users, and find what gaps and pain points exist in their current process. From there, we designed key improvements and received very positive feedback.

What I'm curious about

With the current buzz and success of OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft's Copilot, I'm curious about how we can utilize these tools in new ways.

AI-assisted design could soon be the norm, so I'm excited to learn from it and see how I can incorporate it into my workflows.
